Summary

Stranger Things is not only about 80’s rock, D&D, high school heartbreak, or even monsters from another dimension. It is about brave kids standing up for what they believe in and fighting for their friends and family no matter what. This hardcover collection brings together two stories about just that.

Tomb of Ybwen is set in January 1985, after the Hawkins crew survived a battle with the Mind Flayer. Will and Joyce are reeling from Bob Newby’s death. Will’s friends have been too busy with their girlfriends to notice him struggling. After Mr. Clarke and Will discover an odd map Bob left in a box of A.V. club memorabilia, Will rallies the gang to investigate—but with a blizzard coming, they’re afraid to follow. But when Will takes off into the freezing wilds alone they rush to stop him and just as they catch up, they discover that Bob’s map may lead to a real hidden treasure and that turning back is no longer an option.

In Kamchatka a Soviet scientist is abducted to work on a top-secret project, and is quickly face-to-face with the Kremlin’s new ultimate weapon—a Demogorgon! What his top-secret captors didn’t count on was the resiliency of his kids. While their father has been dragooned into weaponizing a monster, the two young teens are forced to embark on a harrowing and perilous journey to find him, with help from an unlikely ally: an old but still extremely deadly retired KGB agent with a good heart and a vendetta.

Collects Stranger Things: Tomb of Ybwen #1–#4 and Stranger Things: Kamchatka #1–#4.

Greg Pak is a comic book writer and filmmaker best known for Action Comics and Batman/Superman for DC Comics, Planet Hulk and Magneto Testament for Marvel Comics, and the Code Monkey Save World graphic novel and The Princess Who Saved Herself children's book, based on the songs of Jonathan Coulton. Pak also co-wrote the fan favorite Incredible Hercules series with Fred Van Lente, with whom he also wrote the new how-to book, Make Comics Like the Pros. The author lives in New York, New York.

Michael Moreci is a bestselling comics author and novelist. In the horror genre, he’s the author of three critically-acclaimed original series: Curse, Burning Fields, and, most recently, The Plot, which was one of the best-selling comics of 2019 and has landed on countless “best of the year” lists. He’s also collaborated with superstar screenwriter Gary Dauberman (IT, Annabelle Comes Home) to create Mall, a dystopian horror comic series, and written for Stranger Things, Vampironica, Stranger Things, and Hack/Slash. In 2020, Moreci sold his first screenplays, a horror script that’s currently in development. Additionally, Moreci pens numerous established properties. He’s written multiple storylines for the series including The Clone Wars: Battle Tales, which ties into the animated series. No stranger to Star Wars, Moreci has also written a series of novels inspired by the galaxy far, far away: Black Star Renegades and its sequel, We Are Mayhem, both from St. Martin’s Press. Black Star Renegades was nominated for an Audie Award and called one of the best sci-fi novels of the year by Verge and other publications, and in 2019, We Are Mayhem was nominated for a Chicago Review of Books (CHIRBY) Award for best novel of the year. Moreci’s other works include Wasted Space (which Panel Patter dubbed “one of the best comics of this century”), The Lost Carnival: A Dick Grayson Story (a YA graphic novel from DC), Hexagon (a middle grade adventure series that, to date, has accumulated over 11K subscribers and over 100K reads), graphic novel adaptations of Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl series, Archangel 8, Roche Limit (which i09 called “one of the 50 best sci-fi comics of all-time), and Hoax Hunters.
