Summary

In 1969, the Vietnam War is at its peak. The Peace Talks are moving slowly and hold little hope for a resolution to the conflict. The President is fearful of loosing control in Vietnam and looking for some leverage. He discovers a newly developed, and very powerful, weapon within the ranks of his military that can give him that leverage, and he orders that it immediately be put into service. What the President doesn't know is a Russian KGB agent is also aware of the weapon. The Russian believes he has a means of taking control of the weapon from the Americans with devices his spies have placed in an American helicopter bound for Vietnam. When the helicopter falls into the hands of an American pilot, the story hero, all hell breaks loose. A tug-of-war over control of the weapon ensues between Russian and the United States and the pilot winds up in the middle of an espionage "free for all" that could end with devastating results for the whole world. The hero and his young female CIA counterpart develop a personal relationship but find that each of them needs to employ their professional expertise to try and stop the disaster. The many twists they encounter take them deep into a world of espionage that threatens their lives.
